چکیده

Background: Prostate biopsy was used to diagnose and establish a therapy for prostate cancer (PCa). Instead of using conventional finger-guided (FGPB) approximate prostatic architecture, transrectal ultrasonography-guided biopsies the (TRUSGB) have become more popular nowadays because offer direct visualization. However, lack availability ultrasound probes in less-developed regions raises concerns regarding need patients with PCa. Moreover, different conclusions been found from prior studies that examined efficacy both methods. This study aims compare accuracy TRUSGB FGPB cancer.. Methods: done retrospectively 50 medical records PCa Urology Division Sardjito Hospital January 2009 until December 2013. Patients’ age, PSA value, digital rectal examination, histopathological examination were analyzed. Results: The mean age 65.18 ± 7.76 years 67.52 10.79 group. median 65.01 (range: 16.33–114.72) ng/mL 71.75 19.86– 123.47) TRUSGB. Abnormal DRE 75.75% group 70.58% Comparable detection rates groups (45.45% vs. 52.94%) (p = 0.136).Conclusions: procedures are comparable. supports as first-line diagnostic technique, especially low-resource situations where ultrasonography is unavailable.
